Battery Rock and Rock Creek hike at 16 degrees!

(2017) I picked up a new hiking partner Don Wall and we headed to a spur of the moment reblazing trip with the R2R Society. They were hiking to Battery Rock to put up new Blazes along the way and we tagged along.

When they were done, I took Don over to Rock Creek and we hiked the creek around the bluff area, It was a great day for icecicles.

Battery Rock, there is a way to the top where the chimney was about where the R is. That is also where the shelter cave is that held the Union Army gun battery judging by the square holes carved in the floor.

The Ohio was down some making the Rock accessible

I believe that’s the cave with the gun battery back in the day. the way up is to the right.

The chimney on top. That must have had one heck of a view of the Ohio River.

This might have been over at the Brown Cemetery. I’ve slept since then.

Brown Cemetery is further down the main trail South…onto Rock Creek!
